“Little Frida” is a gentle emotion-filled story inspired by the childhood of the Mexican painter and one of the most significant and fascinating figures of the 20th century Frida Kahlo, who contracted polio at the age of six and at a very early age experienced what it means to be different. The story brought to the stage by this performance aims on the one hand, to spark our imagination and immerse us in the vivid colors and atmosphere of “Casa Azul” the authentic family home of the Kahlo family from the early 20th century and on the other hand to tell in an accessible way a story about diversity, courage, will, and perseverance.

The text by Croatian dramaturg Jelena Kovačić was first performed in 2021 at the “Žar ptica” City Theatre, directed by Anica Tomić. The production gained regional popularity, and audiences of the “Žar ptica” theatre fill every reprise performance to the last seat.
